I enjoyed the read though I thought the connection the author was seeking to make between the Black nurses employed at Sea View and the ultimate development of an effective tuberculosis treatment was a titch stretched. The women’s stories, though, were told with love and intelligence, even if Smilios writes right past some juicy analytical opportunities.
