Shashi Bhat’s collection of short stories explores the lives of her diaspora women characters navigating family, relationships (frequently horrifying ones) and society. I found her at her most compelling condemning never-accountable misogyny, but the occasional diversions into the realm of the fantastic were entertaining. 4/5.
