It was a pretty workaday ride today. My bike needs some maintenance, though. The rust on the chain is starting to thicken up and my rotors are squealing. At one point on the ride home my chain fell off. I was pleased at Booth to be joined by three other cyclists while up at the next light three more were crossing. Mild temperatures and virtually no snow mean a lot of people are out. I’d suggest cleaning the streets to help keep people’s bikes clean, but that would obviously be foolish with two months left of winter. There’s still snow to come, right? Maybe?
For those keeping track at home, trips including my bike – either as the sole mode or part of a multimodal trip – stand at 44% of my trips since the beginning of the year. Trips involving transit are 36% of the total. Simple walking trips are 18.5% of my trips and private vehicle trips are 10%.
