I won’t say much about Kara Swisher’s Burn Book. She’s clearly smart. Swisher name-checks Maria Ressa as a pioneer in holding Big Data titans accountable, with a passing reference to the surveillance capitalism of our age but without crediting Zuboff’s groundbreaking work. The potential was here for an important analysis, but Burn Book is less a slow combustion than flash in the pan. Still, the anecdotes and snark were entertaining.
