I haven’t been posting a lot of video of late! My rides go online either on my YouTube very occasionally for a general audience or else on my PeerTube for day-to-day posting. It’s becoming more of a hobby for me, though, as my collection of cameras grows and I’m working now on the Studio Pro. Very, very slowly I’m learning how to use Final Cut Pro. This morning’s post highlights some recent videos that I really like made using the 360 camera and drone. I’m still working on becoming a better “pilot” and my 360s are generally just of my rides, but I’ve had fun in 2024 playing with these. I’ll make a quick note that in the Line 2 intro video I’ve actually recorded sound separately. My lav mic plugs into my iPhone using the stereo mini-plug dongle and I use TwistedWave to record an audio track. And I’ll also just note the telemetry on the 360 ride; that’s something I’d like to nail in 2025 in terms of layout. These are not necessarily interesting factoids, but they’re interesting to me!
If I had to do it all over again, I wonder whether I would have gone from journalism into some kind of video work. In my professional capacity I’m forever trying to get engagement; video often does the trick.
Four years of waiting is over. Mechanicsville has its rink back. Skate on, M'Ville.
